Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree putting into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to impose sanctions against the self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The Vatican has refused to participate in the Peace Council, to which it was invited by US President Donald Trump, the Holy See’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, said on Wednesday, Vatican News reported.

Ukraine’s Minister of Youth and Sports Matviy Bidny said that the decision of the organizers of the Paralympic Games to allow athletes and paraathletes from Russia and Belarus to compete under their national flags is “disappointing and outrageous.”

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov has held a separate meeting with representatives of the United States and European partners – France, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, during which they discussed the results of today’s round of negotiations and agreed on further joint steps.

Following the invaders’ combined, massive strike, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that partners must strengthen sanctions against the aggressor and increase “support for the Ukrainian army,” including air defense.

US President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine should quickly come to the negotiating table. The White House published an audio recording of Trump’s response to journalists’ questions on its YouTube channel.
